Independent Directors Make the Jump to Feature Films
Damah Speakers Wolf, Weaver and Warfel Show Us How It’s Done
Feature film directors Allen Wolf, Gary Weaver, and Derrick Warfel will share their success stories in making the transition from directing independent films to big budget features at the Damah Film Festival this May 19-21 at Culver Studios in Culver City, California.
The Damah “Independents Panel” will address how Weaver, Warfel and Wolf, all award-winning short film directors, made the jump to features. Trailers from these hot new directors' upcoming features, all of which have spiritual themes, will be screened at the festival.
“You can't always wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder anymore,” says Derrick Warfel, who this Summer finishes his first feature film, “The Fall of Night.” “There's something very cathartic about seeing exactly what you wrote get made. The times are changing and there are good opportunities -- now's a great time to get out there and make your films.”
Founded in 2001, the Damah Film Festival – Spiritual Experiences in Film is open to all traditions and perspectives. Damah (“dù mah´” -- a Hebrew word meaning “a metaphor that transforms”) is dedicated to encouraging an emerging generation of filmmakers from diverse perspectives to voice the spiritual aspect of the human experience through film.
