What is the Damah Film Festival?
It’s a unique festival that focuses on exploring the spiritual dimension of life through the art form of the short film.
We are a non-profit organization formed to encourage an emerging generation of filmmakers and to provide a forum for these artists to voice the spiritual aspect of the human experience.
What does Damah mean?
It’s an ancient Hebrew word that means, loosely translated, “a metaphor that transforms.”
It’s an art form that starts with a commonly accepted way of looking at the world and adds a surprise or unexpected twist that results in new ways of looking at the world, serving as a “paradigm bomb” to the viewer.
How long has the Damah Film Festival been around?
We are in our 8th year of existence – and looking forward to many more! Our first festival was held in Seattle in October of 2001.
How much prize money is awarded?

What makes Damah stand out from all of the other film festivals out there?
Our focus on the filmmaker and our ability to create and foster a real sense of community and support among the filmmakers, festival attendees and industry professionals.
We provide the venue where both first-time filmmakers and seasoned veterans can break new ground in their art while engaging with the viewers regarding one of the most important topics of our time – spirituality.
We accept films from an incredibly diverse spiritual spectrum. We allow each individual filmmaker to define “spirituality” in their terms through their film. The only limit we place on films is that they have to be less than 30 minutes.
Our commitment to providing our filmmakers with the most networking, mentoring and learning opportunities possible. This is accomplished via our workshops, Q&As, social events, screenings and one-on-one meetings.
